Phylogenetic analysis of Plenodomus lingam and Plenodomus biglobosus isolates in Hungary

Abstract Blackleg (stem canker) of crucifers is a globally important disease caused by multiple genetic subclades the fungi Plenodomus lingam (syn.: Leptosphaeria maculans ) and biglobosus biglobosa ). In our study, we monitored geographical distribution these two pathogen species from rapeseed growing areas in Hungary. Multiplex PCR identified 48.7% isolates as , which indicates non-recent introduction into addition, multi-locus analysis revealed low diversity within species, all were clustered to ‘brassicae’ subclades. The population generally means reduced adaptation potential, essential information breeding developing more effective management strategies.
